Agreement on the Development Cooperation Instrument

Brussels, 21 September 2006: After many months of negotiations, an agreement has finally been reached on the establishment of the new Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI).

The deal, which was struck yesterday, will be formally adopted in the coming weeks and the new instrument should come into effect in early 2007.
