Religious Persecution in Eritrea and the role of the European Union in tackling the challenge

Religious-persecutionFrom the 21th to the 25th of June 2011, senior and emerging scholars from political science and international relations are invited to discuss the nexus of religion, gender, identity, human rights and politics at the European Science Foundation Conference (ESF-LiU) in Sweden (Scandic Linköping Vast). The conference entitled “Religion, Gender and Human Rights: Challenges for Multicultural and Democratic Societies” gathers many scholar across disciplines to fill a gap in current literature on religion, politics and society, which tends to ignore or treat as secondary the gendered dimensions of these developments.

During the conference, the paper “Religious Persecution in Eritrea and the role of the European Union in tackling the challenge” written by Doctor Daniel R Mekonnen and Professor Mirjam van Reisen was successfully presented and warmly received.
