Brussels, 16/02/07: The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on the draft Commission decisions establishing country strategy papers and indicative programmes for Malaysia, Brazil and Pakistan.
According to the reosolution, which was adopted on during the plenary session on 15 February in Strasbourg, the European Parliament takes the view that in most draft strategy papers and draft indicative programmes the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are not clearly presented as a main priority.
Furthermore, the European Parliament takes the view that elements in the strategy papers for Brazil, Malaysia and Pakistan do not fulfill the criteria for ODA as set out by the OECD/DAC and, therefore, it calls on the Commission to withdraw or amend its draft CSPs.
