Launch of new Action for Global Health report: Health Warning

Action for Global Health publication: Health WarningHealth Warning: Why Europe must act now to rescue the health Millennium Development Goals

Action for Global Health (AGH) was established in October 2006. It brings together fifteen non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from Brussels and a number of European countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. It aims to monitor the actions and policies of European governments on how they affect health in developing countries, and to influence decision-makers to improve their practice.

Action for Global Health is concerned that Europe is not yet doing enough to support developing countries achieve the health Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015. The focus of this first report is on funding provided by European governments for health in developing countries through their Official Development Assistance (ODA). The report represents a consensus position among the NGOs that constitute Action for Global Health and is intended as a collective advocacy call. Future reports will monitor the availability of ODA for health and will also look at other important areas of policy including health system strengthening, gender and health, and research and development.

The publication is available in English, French and German. The UK version is available here.
