Letter from the Stop AIDS Alliance expressing concerns about draft CSPs for Asia and Latin America

aids logo.jpgBrussels, 25/01/07: On 22 January 2007, the Stop AIDS Alliance wrote to the Member States’ Permanent Representations to express their concern about the country strategy papers (CSPs) for Asia and Latin America. These CSPs, which come under the remit of the new Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI), are currently under review by Member States and the European Parliament.

The European Commission made a strong commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS in all of its partner developing countries in its European Programme for Action to Confront HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis through External Action, which was adopted in April 2005. However, the draft CSPs for Asia and Latin America (2007 - 2013), which are now under consideration, do not reflect the priorities agreed in the European Programme for Action.
