he foreign ministers of Denmark and the Netherlands set out ideas for a new era of relations in the Mediterranean, aiming to establish a wider Euro-Mediterranean Economic Area.
The idea, inspired by the recent events of in the Arab world, calls the EU to meet the aspirations of the Arab people for freedom and democracy, and help the region prosper.
This would also benefit the EU, as it would reduce the incentives to leave, the root causes of migration.
The foreign ministerns also warn that each step towards the region's economic integration with the EU should be tied to tangible progress on political reform.
