On Monday 23 May, member states' foreign ministers are expected to take actions against the Syrian leader, Bashar Assad. The sanctions should consist in freezing the President‘s assets and to ban him from entering the European Union. Certain member states and the US remain cautious on whether or not strong positions should be taken against the Syrian regime.
The uprisings across the Arab world and the EU policy toward the southern Mediterranean should also be part of the ministers’ agenda.
