Sudan to chair G 77

Brussels, 30/09/08: Sudan, whose President is being investigated by the International Criminal Court for committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Darfur, is now elected to lead the G 77. As chair of the Group of 77, Sudan will lead on economic issues, international trade negotiations, issues of the Millennium Development Goals initiative, climate change, poverty, the international food shortage, and preparations for the Summit of the South Countries.
