Discussion on the results of the UN MDG Summit

A public debate in Frankfurt organised by Welthungerhilfe on 27 September discussed the outcome of the recent Un Summit in NY where 140 Heads of State discussed progress to the international Goals to eradicate poverty. Professor van Reisen regretted that not more progress was made during the Summit, but welcomed the consensus on the need for universal access to basic social services and the acknowledgement of a need for an international social floor. She added that the European Union should intensify its efforts to support access to basic social services for all.
