UK Prime Minister calls for greater effort to tackle global poverty

New York, 01/08/07: UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown has called for an increased international effort to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

In his first speech at the United Nations as Prime Minister, Mr Brown stated that "the calendar says we are half way from 2000 to 2015. But the reality is that we are we are a million miles away from success."
