A report on the EU Development Cooperation two years after the Lisbon Treaty

ecdpmECDPM published a discussion paper on “EU development cooperation after the Lisbon Treaty: People, institutions and global trends”, which analyses the state of European’s development cooperation two years after the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty.

The paper concludes that although the Lisbon Treaty can create great opportunities to strengthen the EU’s contribution to global development and the eradication of poverty, in its first two years it has not proved effective in delivering its potential. Coordination within the EU is still lacking and PCD has not been furthered considerably, while the EU’s partnerships with ACP and African stakeholders are under strain.
