Only six months after its creation, UN Women (UNW) is struggling to raise 500 million dollars for its budget. UNW comprises four other UN women’s organizations and is at risk of being sidelined by misogynist countries and a “coalition of the wealthy” due to lack of funding. This Terraviva article urges the 300 NGOs that campaigned for the creation of UNW, under the Gender Equality Architecture Reform (GEAR) plan, to continue pushing member states to pledge fiscal and political support for UNW.
