Internal Project Coordinator

This position is part of a project focused on implementing interoperable secure datapods for refugee data. These datapods are designed to enable easier sharing of information and data while ensuring data privacy, ownership, and autonomy. These FAIR Secure Refugee Datapods aim to strengthen refugees’ rights to anonymously provide and store information, improve rapid responses to human rights abuses, whilst enabling the reuse of sensitive data from humanitarian and refugee organisations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate collaboration among partner organisations.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing information exchange infrastructures.
  • Oversee the integration of FAIR-compliant tools and infrastructures within partner organisations, ensuring that they meet the specific needs of refugee data management and adhere to privacy and security standards.
  • Coordinate follow-up training related to the FAIR tools.
  • Advocate for the project’s outcomes and the importance of secure data-sharing practices in humanitarian contexts, engaging with stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader community to promote awareness and support.
Requirements
  • Relevant educational background.
  • 4-5 years of experience in a relevant sector.
  • A lot of experience collaborating with international organisations.
  • Ability to travel regularly to partner organisations and field locations as needed, with a flexible approach to working in dynamic environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and vulnerable populations, with a commitment to promoting their rights and autonomy in data sharing.
Working conditions
  • The contractor will primarily work in a remote or hybrid setting, with the possibility of on-site work at partner organisations or field locations as required.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate collaboration with international partners across different timezones.
  • Travel expenses will be covered in accordance with organisational policies.
  • This is a contract position with an expected duration of 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on projects needs and performance.

FAIR Data Specialist

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain FAIR-compliant data-sharing tools and platforms tailored for humanitarian contexts.
  • Implement best practices for data management and ensure tools are user-friendly for diverse stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support to humanitarian staff on the use of data tools and the importance of FAIR data principles.
  • Develop user manuals, documentation, and training materials to facilitate effective tool usage.
Requirements
  • A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing FAIR data principles and practices in previous roles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Java) and experience with data management tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases, data visualisation tools).
  • Familiarity with data standards and protocols (e.g., RDF, JSON-LD, schema.org) relevant to data sharing.

Advocacy specialist

This position is part of a project focused on implementing interoperable secure datapods for refugee data. These datapods are designed to enable easier sharing of information and data while ensuring data privacy, ownership, and autonomy. These FAIR Secure Refugee Datapods aim to strengthen refugees’ rights to anonymously provide and store information, improve rapid responses to human rights abuses, whilst enabling the reuse of sensitive data from humanitarian and refugee organisations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement and advocacy strategy related to the implementation and scaling of the datapods, as well as on the insights gained from analysis performed on the use cases based on the datapods.
  • Conduct research and analysis on relevant policy issues and trends.
  • Coordinate the organisation of two seminars aimed at sharing the insights with policymakers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, community leaders, and partner organisations.
Requirements
  • A degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the legislative process and advocacy strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in grassroots organizing and community engagement is a plus.
