Response to EU initiative: Cross-Border Judicial Cooperation

This is a response to the initiative by the EU which  aims to increase cross-border judicial cooperation on serious cross-border and organised crime. EEPA highlighted in its response the importance of cross-border cooperation in migration crimes, such as human trafficking for ransom, and particularly the element of transnational repression that is part of these crimes.

Letter of the Foundation Human Rights for Eritrea to the consul of Eritrea in The Netherlands requesting the cancellation of an event organised by the (Y)PFDJ


A ‘cultural’ event organised by the long arm of the Eritrean regime, the (Y)PFDJ, has been organised at the Event Plaza in Rijswijk, the Netherlands for 13 August 2022. Many organisations, including the Foundation Human Rights for Eritreans, have urgently asked that the event be cancelled.

This report contains the summary of the Roundtable entitled “Inhumane treatment and trafficking of people in Libya – The EU’s and EU Member states’ responsibility” which was held from 18:30 – 20:00 in the European Parliament on the 1st of April 2019. The event was hosted by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) Marie-Christine Vergiat (GUE/NGL Group) and Ana Gomes (S&D Group) together with the organisation Europe External Programme with Africa (EEPA). Speakers in this event were,among others, representatives of Médecins Sans Frontières, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, expert on human trafficking, legal experts, a journalist and human rights activists.
