Europe External Programme with Africa (EEPA) is a non-profit organisation based in Brussels, Belgium. We are a Centre of Expertise with in-depth knowledge, publications, and networks, specialised in issues of peacebuilding, refugee protection, and resilience in the Horn of Africa and beyond. EEPA has published extensively on issues related to the movement and human trafficking of refugees in the Horn of Africa and on the Central Mediterranean Route. We cooperate with a wide network of universities, research organisations, civil society, and experts from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Djibouti, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, across Africa and in Haiti.
Our Mission
EEPA is dedicated to amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities affected by military conflict and criminal organizations. We strive to dismantle the digital black holes that silence these communities by fostering ethical, decentralised digital spaces that promote equitable access to information and data ownership. Through collaborative efforts with diverse stakeholders, including civil society, faith-based organizations, and academic institutions, we aim to empower marginalised populations, ensuring their active participation in decision-making processes that impact their lives.
Our Vision
We seek to eradicate the systemic inequalities that perpetuate the underrepresentation of vulnerable groups. Our goal is to cultivate a global culture that champions human rights, fosters trust and collaboration, and enables marginalised communities to engage meaningfully in shaping their futures. We ensure that these spaces remain safe for dialogue and innovation, ultimately contributing to peace-building and social justice
Our way of working
At the core of EEPA’s work are three pillars: our network, our research and our advocacy. The work that we conduct within each of these pillars strengthen each other, to broaden the impact that we have. EEPA’s work is never conducted in isolation, but within an extensive network of organisations, institutions, and individuals at different levels bridging the gap between what is happening on the ground and what is being discussed within international institutions. EEPA’s network equally spans a large geographical area. The work that EEPA conducts through its network, includes the empowerment of other organisations in their work with our expertise, and creating links that enable important collaborations. It has fostered an extensive network which includes high-level diplomats, policy makers, civil society, faith-based organisations and universities/research organisations.
